ResCo Services is thrilled to announce the graduation of the first Indigenous trainees from its Simulator Training Program today at Coal & Allied’s Mount Thorley operation.

Ten Indigenous trainees are graduating from the program’s inaugural launch, which aims to provide Indigenous youth with the opportunity to develop skills and find long-term employment in mining and related industries.

The program, run in conjunction with Mission Australia, incorporates comprehensive education and field programs, coupled with rigorous testing.

Through this training, ResCo Services’ Indigenous trainees are provided with basic skills and understanding of the mining industry and introductory truck operating skills prior to entering the employment market.

The Indigenous Trainees have been exposed to four weeks of mining practices, with hands-on training and practical interaction using ResCo Services’ new, state-of-the-art PRO3 virtual training simulator.

The simulator is based on the Komatsu 830-AC & Caterpillar 797F dump trucks, both common machinery used by mines across the country.

According to ResCo Services’ Chief Operating Officer, Jason Sweeney, the program is the first of its kind to incorporate the new PRO3 virtual training simulator with the interactive classroom.

“The program is a fantastic opportunity for young Indigenous people, who want a career in mining, to receive the highest quality entry-level training there is available to them, using the best training technology,” said Sweeney.

“These first recruits have passed the initial stage of the course with flying colours and are now equipped with the skills they need to continue with their traineeship through ResCo Services or find direct employment with mining companies,” he added.

The Indigenous trainees now have the opportunity to apply for a Certificate II in Surface Extraction Operations Traineeship with ResCo Services.

Together, ResCo Services and Mission Australia are perfectly positioned with their employment and training contacts to help these young people further their studies to one day secure jobs in the Hunter Valley’s booming resource sector.

“ResCo Services has direct relationships with mine operators throughout the Australian and international resource industries, so we’re able to assist trainees with employment, which is the program’s main objective,” said Sweeney.

The Indigenous Trainee Simulator Program is funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations under the Indigenous Employment Program.

A similar accreditation program is also available for all Hunter Valley youth through ResCo Services.

The GreenSkills program, is aimed at young people in the Hunter area who have no experience, are at a “walk-in” level or are “green” to the mining industry, who are looking for a long-term career.

GreenSkills addresses a growing concern for high rates of youth unemployment across New South Wales, particularly in Hunter valley region where young people are best placed to take up the opportunity.

ResCo Services is the largest labour hire and training provider of mining resources in the Hunter region, currently servicing major clients including Rio Tinto’s Coal & Allied Operations, Xstrata Coal, Anglo Coal, BHP Billiton, Downer EDI Mining and Port Waratah Coal Services.

Both GreenSkills and the Indigenous Simulator Program will be launched in North Queensland from July 2012.

For more information about applying for the Indigenous Trainee Simulator Program or GreenSkills, please call 1300 073 726.

International recruitment and labour hire specialist, Humanis Group Limited (ASX: HUM) is pleased to announce that it has acquired Gnomic Exploration Services Pty Ltd, a mining personnel and recruitment services company, based in Townsville, Queensland.

Established in 1985, Gnomic Exploration Services specialises in providing highly motivated and talented geoscience and geo-technical contractors and consultants to minerals and energy industries in Australia and overseas for both short and long term contracts.

Since the business’ inception, Gnomic Managing Director, Chrissy Maguire has built a company with a reputation for reliability, efficiency and personal service which currently generates annual revenues of over $12 million.

The business is now regarded as the longest-standing geoscience contracting Group in North Queensland.

Humanis Group will inherit Gnomic’s outstanding reputation in their field and a strong Australian and international client base, with a major customer portfolio including BHP Billiton, Hancock Exploration, Rio Tinto, Xstrata, One Steel and Queensland Mining Corporation Limited.

Humanis Group Managing Director, Rabieh Krayem says Gnomic will offer limitless opportunities for synergies across the Group’s businesses.

“The additional geotechnical and geosciences capability of Gnomic will present as an added strength to Humanis Group’s current service offering,” said Mr Krayem.

“The Group is very excited about introducing the Gnomic team and their skills to provide a further niche diversification in addition to our mining specialist subsidiary, ResCo Services.”

The combination of the two companies will build Humanis Group’s profile across Australia as an expert service provider to the booming mining sector.

Gnomic Exploration Services owner, founder and Managing Director Chrissy Maguire says she’s pleased to be joining the Humanis Group and excited to see the business grow and develop with the new resources that will be available to the company in the future.

“I’m looking forward to working with the ResCo Services team and refer our clients to their services, so that we mutually benefit from one another,” she said.
Geographically, the acquisition has been a particularly strategic move in Humanis Group’s push into the Queensland mining market and Gnomic will contribute greatly to the Group’s already significant presence in Townsville.

Maguire will be staying with the business as Managing Director, bringing with her a highly capable and professional management team and staff.
By doing so, Ms Maguire will help ensure the smooth transition of Gnomic’s existing clients and staff to the Humanis network and continue to grow the business.

“Our clients can be rest assured the Gnomic business will retain the integrity of its services, its fantastic culture and the very personal and professional service we’ve built up within the organisation over the last 25 years,” said Ms. Maguire.

Gnomic Exploration Services will operate from Humanis’ office in Townsville, following the acquisition’s official completion on 1 May 2012.

Humanis Group Limited (ASX: HUM) wishes to advise that the Board has appointed Dr Prins Ralston as Non-Executive Director of the Company.

Dr Ralston is the Executive Leader of Mission Australia Employment Solutions (MAES). MAES is one of Australia’s largest providers of employment services with 1,300 employees and 130 offices. Mission Australia has been assisting Australian for 151 years and MAES plays a significant part in build a fairer Australia by assisting in excess of 150,000 Australians each year on their pathway to employment.

Chairman Craig Ransley stated “Dr Ralston brings a comprehensive knowledge of the employment industry in Australia and internationally – both government funded employment services as well as the private recruitment and temporary employment industries. His best practice experience in these sectors will provide considerable strategic value to Humanis as it expands its presence within Australia and overseas.

“Dr Ralston will also provide expert direction to Humanis on the development and delivery of our corporate and social responsibility goals. Mission Australia is a leader in the provision of services to long term unemployed and other disadvantaged Australians. Humanis is determined to contribute in this area, particularly in supporting Indigenous Australians into sustainable work.”

“Prins’ nationally recognised leadership in the Indigenous employment and welfare to work space will help direct and strengthen our focus on social responsibility.”

“Humanis has been searching for a non-executive director with substantial industry experience and success and Prins fits that criterion perfectly.” Mr Ransley added.

Dr Ralston adds important industry knowledge and expertise to the skills and experience among the Company’s existing board members.

Prior to his current role with MAES, Dr Ralston used his knowledge of the recruitment and employment sector to establish Employment Services Holdings (the ESH Group) and with the backing of a private equity firm, acquired and integrated four successful recruitment and employment companies in Australia and the United Kingdom. As Group CEO and Managing Director he grew the company into one of Australia’s most successful employment providers, employing 1,200 people through a network of 107 centres across Australia and the UK.

“That integration experience will be crucial for Humanis as the Company seeks to enhance its profitability through the natural synergies that result from the businesses that have been acquired in the last year” Mr Ransley added.

“We are extremely pleased he accepted our invitation to join the Humanis board.”

In addition to the 10 years at the CEO and Board level in the employment sector, Dr Ralston brings more than 20 years experience in Executive roles in legal, financial and information technology and communication sectors. He has been a partner with the national law firms Clayton Utz and Gadens
